Signs it’s Time to Replace Your Old Fence

October 06, 20222 min read

No matter how durable or tough your fence is, you will eventually have to repair or replace your fence after years of wear and tear. Fences wear out like roofs or other parts of your home or business and when they do, you need to recognize when it is time to replace them. While in some cases you can repair individual panels or sections, in some cases you will want to replace your fence completely.

When to Replace:

Depending on the building material you choose, your fence can last anywhere from five to fifteen years. You should consider replacing your fence if it shows any of the following signs:

  1. Decayed or damaged wood – this is a quite common sign that you need a new fence. Decayed wood can weaken your fence, so you should replace it soon if you see any signs of decay.

  2. Sections are falling down or missing – if you are missing sections or they are starting to fall, you need to go ahead and replace the whole thing to prevent other parts from falling as well.

  3. The quote for repairing your fence almost equals the cost of a brand-new fence – this is only logical. If your fence is severely damaged, you may want to consider replacing the whole thing as opposed to repairing it piece by piece, which is likely to cost more in the long run.

A new fence can really improve the look of your home and increase its value. Not to mention, it will keep your family and pets safe and secure. Also, for many people, privacy in the home is very important, You want to be able to enjoy the outdoors without having neighbors being able to see your every move. A fence allows you to enjoy the scenery while giving you privacy.
